IWSG-Form

Insecure Writer's Support Group

Question - Quote: "Although I have written a short story collection, the form found me and not the other way around. Don't write short stories, novels or poems. Just write your truth and your stories will mold into the shapes they need to be."

Have you ever written a piece that became a form, or even a genre, you hadn't planned on writing in? Or do you choose a form/genre in advance?

I let my muse choose the form. Since I use writing as a form of therapy, I really have no choice in the matter. At least that's what I tell myself, but I'm a talented liar storyteller. Just ask me.

  1. That's probably a great way to let inspiration guide you.

  2. Ha! Your muse made you do it. I like that.

  3. I agree. There is very thin line between lying and telling a story.

  4. Oh, we're not liars. We just make up stories for others to enjoy. How hum-drum our lives would be without our stories? I think the difference between fiction and deception is that liars lie to benefit from their lies, but how many writers benefit from their imagination?
