Pedro Rodrigues Filho, was convicted and sentenced to 128 years, but the maximum to serve in Brazil is 30 years. He was released in 2007. And arrested in again in 2011.

He claimed to have killed over 100 victims, 47 of them inmates.

He also killed his father. His father killed his wife (Filho's mother) with an ax.

    1. Really, so many get early and just continue to kill. Shameful!

  4. Sounds like he learned to kill from his father and then took it to new heights. You'd think a system should be able to spot when a man should never be released again because he is a danger to society!

  5. It's for people like him, where they are a clear danger to society, that I'm glad there is a life means life discretion in the English courts. It's used very rarely there are only 61 prisoners currently serving a whole-life tariff, but it is good to have that exception available.

    1. Definitely! Some should never get out. I don't agree with the death penalty, so many have paid the ultimate price and weren't even guilty, but sitting in a cell for life - that's punishment!

  8. Wow! The system in Brazil clearly isn't working. I clicked on the link and read more about this psycho and he is one disturbed dude. Not only did he kill his dad, it was a revenge kill, but he tore out his dad's heart and ate some of it. Filho was born with some kind of brain injury that he suffered in utero during one of the times when his dad attacked and beat his mom while she was pregnant with him. Of course, this in no way justifies any of his actions. I just thought it was worth mentioning. Another very interesting post.
