Just Like A Painting

These are photographs that
I took the night before Hurricane Dorian.
Dorian hit September 5, 2019

Magical!

And yes, we rode out that threat
despite the mandatory evacuation.

The winds were fierce, and they howled
like a thousand banshees holding chorus,
the doors rattled and the patio doors moved in and out.

The sounds, especially during the darkest hours were the most frightening.
Tornado warning began going off at 3 AM via phone.
And a tornado did hit Myrtle Beach before the worst of the hurricane hit.

We were lucky Hurricane Dorian stayed 45 miles off the shore.
I'm so glad. It's a stressful thing to do - stay when told to leave.
I don't recommend it. We live on the 12th floor.
The elevators and the air conditioning were out for 24 hours.
Will we do it again?
I hope not!

I hope the colors translate -
they are muted which is why I thought they looked like a painting.

HAPPY MONDAY!

  1. Wow, great pictures. How frightening - do you stay or go? The power of the elements unleashed in all their fury. So glad you were safe.

  2. Stunning photos. Glad you're safe.
We had a tornado touch down within jogging distance last year.
Was soooo loud. Like a big monster train. Wow.

    1. Yes, the sound is amazingly loud and we have heard that same sound. Terry was positive he saw one go by???? To scary to stay.

  3. Wow, gorgeous photos. I'm glad you made it through that scary time. I can't even think what I'd do if I had to live through a tornado.

    1. Thanks Murees, it's definitely a hard thing to do. I hope we don't try it again.

  4. You're braver than me. I was at the beach when they had a Nor Easter come through and that was scary enough for me.
