M = MIKHASEVICH

IS FOR GENNADY MIKHASEVICH

A family man, Gennady ModestovichMikhasevich murdered, as near as they can figure, 55 women. He began killing after his girlfriend married someone else. For a while, he even worked with the police – learning how to avoid capture in the process.

His handwriting brought him down. His choice of weapon was whatever was at hand. A married man and father of two he often took the possessions of his victim's home as gifts.

He confessed and was executed in 1987, but 14 other people had already been convicted for some of his crimes and several were executed for crimes they did not commit.

Well one like it!

  1. Wow! I'd never heard of Mr. M. before. I do have a question for you: do you base any of your villains on real-life "bad guys" or do you just let their stories inspire you?

    1. I create a complete history and the crimes that follow stem from that motivation. I've always known as much about the antagonist as the protagonist. But studying the real bad guys helps! Thanks for asking, Jade!

  2. Gross, how do you think his wife and kids liked it when they found out their special treasures from daddy were really his trophies taken from victims he tormented and murdered. Yuck!

    1. I can't imagine being married to such a person. Maybe that's an area I'll study next! Thanks!

  3. That is one of the reasons I do not agree with the death penalty - you can't take back miscarriages of justice. I'm often horrified by some of the evidence used to convict people. Glad they got the right man in the end in this case.

    1. I agree, living with the crime in a small box is better punishment, as long as it isn't club med like!

  6. Your post are just fascinating. Of course, I'm a big fan of psychology and always wonder what drives people to do the things they do.

  7. I love that car! I love reading these. I'm a huge 48 Hours and Dateline fan, so this is like getting some of those stories in a nutshell. Fascinating stuff!

    1. Hi, Megan, I used to be a huge fan of ID, but they began repeating the same stories from different view points and it became boring. Serial killers are fascinating, that they exist, and have since time began is surprising. At least to me.:)

  8. It would appear his girlfriend was fortunate...maybe she saw something in him that scared her into another relationship.
